A Journey of Resilience and Creativity

In 2018, I faced a life-changing diagnosis of Breast Cancer, leading me to undergo a double mastectomy with reconstruction. Little did I know that this chapter in my life would become the catalyst for my artistic journey. In 2020, I commemorated my breast cancer journey by having my bust cast. While it was suggested I turn it in to art, “I'm not an artist or creative,” was my limiting belief, so the bust sat there for 6-months. 

Harnessing the Enchantment of Crystals

In my quest for personal growth and inspiration, I stumbled upon the fascinating realm of crystals thanks to my best friend. With every introduction to a new crystal, each resonating with its unique energy and symbolism, something special came to life in me. When looking into the meaning of crystals, I realized I could curate a symbolic & energetic message, amplifying the artistic design for my bust. These 5 crystals collectively became the heart and soul of my artistic journey. Harnessing their energies for spiritual awakening, healing, protection, self-love, and joy, I created artistic magic and turned my bust into an empowering art piece & symbol of my Breast Cancer Journey.

I had no idea at the time I was creating something that would deeply connect with the human spirit.

Second Chapter of Healing

In 2023, nearly 4.5 years cancer free, I embarked on a yet another phase of my cancer journey: a second mastectomy. Due to debilitating Breast Implant Illness caused by the implants from my reconstruction, I opted for a second mastectomy with explant to aesthetic flat closure in order to save my life, yet again. During this grueling and challenging time, art became my sanctuary. It soothed my nerves, steadied my heart rate, and breathed new life into my spirit.

The Birth of AFJ Inspirations

I began creating small art pieces with crystals and resin on canvas and wood boards. In a beautiful evolution of synchronicities, I started collaborating with a talented Kentucky metal artist. This transformed my vision from art pieces in to energetic and grounding pieces of art. In just two weeks, I accessed an untapped resource: my artisit creativity. As my health was declining day by day from Breast Implant Illness, I somehow created a stunning collection of 12 crystal art pieces that flowed from my heart and spirit. Each creation became an energetic inspiration, a physical representation of my therapeutic healing, a fusion of crystal energy into my space and artistic self expression. In embracing this journey, the name Ashley F***ing Johnson (a high school nickname that evolved into a my warrior, empwered battlecry!) felt like the perfect name for my inspired creations.

My intention is that the crystal art I create: inspires, speaks to your soul, awakens healing and uplifts you on your own journey.
